You Can’t AI Your Way Out Of Human Physiology


We’re living through one of the biggest workplace shifts in history.

AI is helping us write faster, analyse data in seconds, automate repetitive tasks and dramatically improve productivity. It’s exciting, and it’s changing the way we work.

But there’s one thing AI can’t do.

It can’t change your physiology.

No matter how advanced technology becomes, every prompt, every judgement call and every important decision still comes from the same remarkable organ we’ve always relied on: the human brain.

Here’s a statistic worth remembering:

Despite accounting for only around 2% of your body weight, your brain uses approximately 20% of your body’s energy at rest. Every conversation you have, every client interaction, every thought and every split-second decision comes from a 1.4kg organ that runs on two things: nutrition, and oxygen.

No matter how good AI gets (and yes, it getting good fast) it will never replace the human brain.

That’s why I believe we need to bridge the gap.

Instead of focusing on (or fearing) AI for job performance, what if we focused on helping people think better?

And then brought the two worlds together?

The truth is, technology can automate tasks, but it can’t compensate for poor prompts, bad decisions or sloppy implementation from a cognitively-depleted workforce.

So how do we build better brains – not just better robots?

The human brain requires a continuous supply of energy to support attention, memory, emotional regulation and executive function. It relies primarily on proteins, fats and complex carbohydrates to turn into ketones and glucose for fuel. That supply comes from food we eat.

Additionally, protein provides amino acids needed to produce neurotransmitters for mood regulation and psychosocial health, healthy fats support brain tissue, and micronutrients are essential for normal cognitive function like thoughts and memory.

When we consistently over-sugar and under-nourish the brain, we’re not simply creating hunger – we’re creating deficit.

And deficits create risk.

The organ responsible for highest-level thinking cannot operate without the resources it needs.

It would be like asking AI to run systems all day – without the power supply plugged in.

The biggest irony is that as AI becomes more capable, the value of human thinking only increases.

Imagine two employees using exactly the same AI tools.

One is hydrated, well nourished and mentally sharp.

The other is under-fuelled and running on caffeine, convenience food and an empty stomach.

The technology is identical.

The quality of what will come out of it wont be.

Because no matter how intelligent AI becomes, every meaningful decision still begins inside a human brain.
