It’s burger night in my house tonight 🤤….

OF COURSE I EAT BURGERS.

Helloooo … you can be the healthiest person in the world and I promise you your brain will still get lit 🔥 and the thought of meat and sauce and pickles.

But as with everything in terms of what I feed myself and my kids I have boundaries and I don’t settle for manufactured non-foods that offer no nutrient value.

So here’s how I “healthify my burgers 🍔 in 6 easy steps:

1. Swap white processed high glyphosate buns for gluten free, wholefoods buns (we love @venerdi_bread Sweet Potato Sourdough ones)

2. Quality meat. Better taste. Better for you. Better for the 🌎. Tonight we’re having @butcher_crowd 100% grass fed patties

3. Add fermented pickles for the gut! I love Foleys and @ceresorganics

4. Go grilled, not fried.
Swap the toxic vegetable oils for air fryer cooking or use healthier fats like butter or olive oil.

5. Choose low sugar sauces
(or make your own). I love a hit of @undividedfoodco Good Sauce 🍅 Ketchup, or @celebratehealth which is stevia based, or just some good old fresh tomato!

6. Control your portion size.
Eating “fun foods” doesn’t have to mean overloading your body and your gut. I’ll typically have one burger and a few sweet potato fries and I’m one happy and satisfied woman! 💖

Food freedom is all about having a balance between negotiables and non-negotiables.

How to get back on the wagon 🚙:

Regaining control and structure with your eating is as easy as 1,2,3 !

1. WHEN
Focus on WHEN you’re eating first. Set a schedule (eg. 7am 12pm 6pm 🕕), put it in your diary, set reminders. No snacking in between.

2. WHAT
Next, sort out WHAT you’re eating. Set a simple meal plan cantered around healthy fats 🥑, protein and fibre. Keep it to 3-4 ingredients per meal and write a shopping list.

3. WHY
Work out your WHY. When we’re off the wagon, the “why” becomes stress, comfort, emotional eating… and leads to a spiral 🌀 downwards. Reclaiming your healthy WHY, your purpose for wanting to eat better, can really help! Write it down, and repeat it over and over!

That’s my 3 step process for reclaiming your power 💥 and getting back on the wagon!
